About the Congressional Art Competition Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district. The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Young at Art Exhibit

Young at Art, the Arts Council’s annual youth art exhibit, gives local young artists in grades K-8 the opportunity to display artwork in a professional gallery setting. There is no cost to view the exhibit. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. There is public reception from noon to 1:30pm on Saturday, April 27th. Thank you to Banterra Bank and Alex Rang Dentistry for sponsoring this exhibit. Their support underwrites our essential community initiatives through investment, advocacy, and leadership.

ARTIST EVENT: AI AND ARTISTIC CREATION

At this event, experienced intellectual property attorney Rick Martin will discuss the intersection of AI and artistic creation and its impact on artists. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion that promises to enhance your understanding and approach to art in the age of AI. This event is FREE for Arts Council members and $15 for non-members. Creative Exploration Day (On The Roof) – Learning Through the Natural World

Children ages 1 – 5 and their caregivers are invited to the Arts Council for a morning of learning through art and creative play. The program is free, open to the public, and runs from 10 am to noon. This session’s theme explores learning through the natural world! BONUS: Susan Angslinger will be reading her new children's book, The Adventures of Hunter Nicholas!

Live Wildlife Drawing Session

Join us on Sunday, May 5th from 1pm - 3pm for a LIVE drawing session with our friends from Wesselman Woods!  Date: May 5th Time: 1pm - 3pm Location: Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, 212 Main Street, Evansville, Indiana 47708 During the event, there will be three drawing stations: Tickets are free, but seating is limited, and registration is required. On The Roof is a free, all ages concert series by the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana. The concerts are outdoors at 212 Main Street, the Arts Council’s Rooftop Art Deck in Downtown Evansville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Music begins at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome. There is no cost to attend. There is a cash-only bar for 21+.
